In a developing world, employment has become a hot topic than ever before. Due to the research, nearly 1,5 billion people are struggling with unemployment. That would be an alarming number and we need to deal with it.

In this blog, I’ll be your “wonder woman” to provide you numerous positions to find an appropriate job that is based on 3 elements: the one you’re interested in, you have specialized in that field and the social needs in the current time.

The Park has provided 40 part time and seasonal applications from 3 months to 9 months. Vacancies for the summer time would open between March and May. We would accept your request and evaluate your CV and related skills included annually.

The interview may take place every year in mid-March, seeking for talented and passionate people in the needed positions. We will be screening carefully and to choose the right person from the applicant record.

The difficulties and drawback of this job are that you have to work in a rural area with craggy topography. Moreover, you will go to work in winter, which is FREEZING cold!

Note: You will work in 12 weeks and be supervised by a Baxter Park Enforcement Ranger.

Duties:

Assist visitors when they are lost or accidentally injured

  • Park conservation activities: repair campground facilities such as buildings, equipment, water systems,…
  • Provide tourists information about trails, weather conditions, rules, regulations and some sort of that in terms of informing and up to speed the news to visitors.
  • Assist visitors when they are lost or accidentally injured. You need to know about first aid and some ways to bandage in emergency cases.
  • Collect the fees, record statistics, make periodic reports to ensure your tasks at hand.
  • Guard the Park to make sure that everything is “safe and sound”.
  • Open and close campgrounds depend on the working time…

This job is suitable for you, if:

  • You can respond quickly to SOS cases, apply appropriate first aid in such a remote area.
  • Have ability with navigation, using compass and hiking maps.
  • Care for others, support everyone when they help a helping hand.
  • You have the ability to work alone in 12 weeks in the remote backcountry.
  • Handle mechanical maintenance and power equipment.
  • Know how to use park radio, hand tools and other relative supplies.
  • Keep simple records and reports of your work.
  • Ability to patrol the Park and enforce the rules strictly and firmly.
  • Can hike long distances to carry heavy packs and other equipment to mountainous regions within the Park.

You will be asked for a high school diploma and 2 years of experience in park maintenance and operation. Plus, you need to have your vehicle’s license.

Happy news: You will be given accommodation and it is TOTALLY free. Hooray! Actually, it is a shared camp with other employees and volunteers.

Minimum qualifications:

You have to provide your high school diploma and 1 year of experience in park maintenance and operation. Furthermore, you can supply the Certification at Wilderness First Responder (WFR). A driving license would be required.

This work is for those passionate about public information. You will be expected to work everyday at the Visitor Center, which is at Togue Pond. The main task is to provide information, books and maps for travellers.

The staff in this vacancy are necessary to research and specialize Park resources and facilities. This job is also needed to communicate and have good public relations with visitors under any scenario.

Note: The Park Naturalist supervises this job.

Duties:

Present the general public with material like trail conditions, history, weather forecasts, reference details

  • Take care of the inventory and sale of goods stocked in the Visitor Centre, manage a suitable inventory via requisitions to the Reservation Supervisor.

  • Responsible for radio link connection in some places when needed.
  • Run the Visitor Information Center for the whole week. Plus, always keep it clean in effect for all BSP workstations.

This is a clerical work of a park gatehouse facility. This vacancy will be duty for making reservations, overseeing radio traffic, explaining rules, regulations and other sources to the tourists.

Like the Customer Service job, Gatehouse Attendants also have to interact with the general public and maintain stable social relations with them as well.

Duties:

  • Record vehicles and persons entering or leaving the Park Gates, tickets book receipts and money collected are also involved in order to make a report each day.

  • Collect extra fees for the use of Park facilities.

The employee needs to have the flexibility to deal with personnel who have problems with health

It is like a Backcountry Ranger and a Campground Ranger.

Additionally, the employee needs to have the flexibility to deal with personnel who have problems with health, set up medical appointments, resign mid-summer positions for another job and have a busy schedule that can’t take up the job.

Scope of work:

You work as a leader of a group to coordinate and oversee work crews

You work as a leader of a group to coordinate and oversee work crews in Baxter State Park trail construction and maintenance. Your job is to supervise students, volunteers and laborers.

Note: You are under the supervision of a general.

  • Schedule a workweek and sequence of subjects in favour to ensure the timely manner and efficient completion.
  • Assign daily activities for the work crew to complete the trail construction and maintenance projects

  • Have the leader skill and communicate well with others to give them information, training and motivate them in their work
  • Organize crews, equipment,… in favor to respond quickly to emergency case such as forest fire, injuries, lost cases within the Park
