Baxter State Park Volunteer Program
Baxter State Park offers a limited number of openings for volunteer service within the Park. Anyone 18 years of age or older, who enjoys life in a mountain environment, especially anyone who loves Baxter State Park, is offered an opportunity to assist the Park Staff. Those under 18 years of age are welcome to participate under the direct supervision of an adult family member, or as a member of an organized group with adult leadership.
Work will be under the supervision of Park personnel. Applications will be screened, and interviews arranged as requested.
Campsite space or rustic housing may be provided for volunteers. But all personal gear, food, bedding, etc. shall be the responsibility of the volunteer.
It is expected that volunteers serving as campground assistants, trail crew or helping with Park maintenance will be available for a period of at least one week, and will contribute a minimum of 28 hours service per week. Under certain circumstances, shorter periods of time may be acceptable. Those first-year volunteers with at least 28 hours of service will receive patches. Return volunteers with 28 hours of service will receive yearly rocker bars to attach to their original patch.

Volunteer Trail Projects for Summer 2012
Dear Trail Friends:
You are cordially invited to join Baxter State Park on a volunteer trail work trip during this coming summer - 2012.
We have four projects available this summer. Please read them over and consider if any of these might fit your schedule and interests. Baxter State Park will provide all tools, safety equipment (such as hard hats, hearing and eye protection), training/supervision, and accommodations (tent sites or lean-tos) at no charge. Trail volunteers need to bring their own clothing, outdoor gear and food.
If you’re interested, please contact me in the next few weeks to get acquainted and make arrangements for these work trips. I will promptly return your call and answer any questions that you may have about our programs. I can be contacted by:
- Leaving a phone message at 207-723-9616 and I will call you back ASAP.
- Fax messages to 207-723-6381
- E-mail messages to Paul.Sannicandro@maine.gov
