BSP Trail Team #3 Chimney Pond Campground
Alpine Trail Reconstruction - Saddle Trail - (Four [4] Dates)

This project involves repairing and reconstructing erosion damaged areas on the Saddle Trail.Use of cable winches, crowbars, picks, and shovels to transport rock materials to the affected areas will be necessary. Dry stone masonry skills will be utilized to place stone in the trail to arrest erosion and stabilize the treadway. The most difficult aspect of this project is hiking to and from the work site. The hike up and down will be 2,600 vertical feet each day from Chimney Pond to the work site on Katahdin. All participants must be in very good physical condition and be able to climb Katahdin four (4) days in a row.

Day one of the project will be a travel day that includes a pack-in hike of 3.2 miles to the base camp at Chimney Pond Campground. Everyone must be able to carry their own food and gear.

There is room for four (4) people for each set of dates. Challenge Level = Most Difficult
